Grand Opening of the Humphrey Nature Center – 7/19/16

TWP_20160719_12_37_03_Pro (3)oday marked the official grand opening of the Humphrey Nature Center at Letchworth State Park.

The grand opening was kicked off by a most rousing speech by Governor Cuomo that recognized the #1 state park status Letchworth enjoys and lauded the many contributors that made the Humphrey Nature Center a reality. He further highlighted the economic benefits that state parks create and their associated natural surroundings as being good for the soul.

Speaking in support of the grand opening were Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey and State Senator Pat Gallivan.

Peter G. Humphrey spoke humbly on his role in three generations of Humphrey stewardship of Letchworth Park and thanked everyone who worked together to further enhance the Letchworth experience for generations to come.

Friends of Letchworth State Park would like to thank all of the contributors to the fundraising efforts that supported the Butterfly Garden in front of the Humphrey Nature Center. It’s already working!
